Sigur Ros man to exhibit art in Arkansas

Sigur Ros frontman Jon Birgisson will debut his artwork outside of Iceland for the first time in Arkansas next month.

The singer has joined forces with Parachutes' Alex Somers to create art under the name Riceboy Sleeps. They are set to make their US debut at Gallery 801 in Hot Springs, Arkansas from August 3 to September 7.

They'll then head Down Under for an exhibit at the Melbourne International Arts Festival October 11-27.

The art duo are also set to debut a video piece at Reykjav?k's Sequences Art Festival in late October.

Meanwhile, Riceboy Sleeps have just completed the second printing of a book of their artwork.
Kaiser Chiefs give North American tour update

Kaiser Chiefs are nearing the end of their NME Presents tour of North America, which wraps up this weekend in California.

Speaking to NME.COM, drummer Nick Hodgson revealed the band have played some interesting shows on the NME Presents The Kaiser Chiefs tour, including one at a famous distillery in Tennessee.

"We went to Nashville and did a gig at the Jack Daniels Distillery" said Hodgson "We were in this little place where there's a population of 361 people and we did a gig for all these competition winners from around the world. We met the Master Distiller. There have only ever been six, he's number six and number one is Jack Daniel - with no 's' at the end."

Despite the fact that the law forbids drinking alcohol in the county where the distillery is located, Hodgson revealed the band were permitted to drink.

"I don't know exactly what the rule is, the place around it, Lynchburg, the district is a dry county. We tried them all and the black label is the best one," he explained.

The band's spell on in north America culminates this weekend with a performance the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in the searing heat of the Californian desert, something that worries Hodgson.

"Everyone's talking about Coachella but I'm a bit scared it's going to be a bit hot. We once did a gig in Austin in 2005 and it was 110 degrees," he explained. "I'm looking forward to seeing Rage Against The Machine."

The remaining dates are:

Vancouver Commodore Ballroom (April 24)
Seattle, WA, Showbox Theatre (25)
Portland, OR, Crystal Ballroom (26)
San Francisco, CA, Warfield Theatre (27)
